Joe Teuton Takes Mopar® Challenger V-10 Drag Pak to First-Ever Class Win at JEGS Cajun SPORTSnationals
It didn't take long for the 2011 Mopar® Challenger V-10 Drag Pak to claim its first-ever class win in Stock Eliminator—only two races, to be exact. Joe Teuton of Houma, La., scored the historic class win at the 8th Annual JEGS Cajun SPORTSnationals in Belle Rose La., on Friday, March 18.
Frank Teuton, Joe's brother, debuted the Mopar Challenger V-10 Drag Pak at the NHRA Gatornationals, March 10–13, advancing to the third round in Stock. Joe Teuton took over the wheel at No Problem Raceway and wasted no time in hauling in the first class trophy for Mopar's new V-10 package car, earning the victory in the AA/SA class over David Buckner with a 9.522-second pass at 138.19 mph.
Joe's father, Jeff Teuton, also captured a class win, bringing home the H/SA victory in his '09 Mopar Challenger Drag Pak. Jeff Teuton topped the qualifying charts in Stock, claiming the No. 1 spot with a 10.846 pass at 1.304 under index; son Joe was ninth with a 9.647 run at .953 under index. Jeff Teuton advanced to the fourth round in overall Stock eliminations, with Joe exiting in the first round.
Yet another Louisiana-based Mopar Drag Pak driver, Paul Candies of Des Allemands, La., just missed scoring a class win in Super Stock, falling to James Caro's 2004 Dodge in the SS/JA class finals. Candies recorded a 10.073/134.22 run in his '09 Mopar Challenger Drag Pak.
