Left Lane: Jim Whiteley Runs 5.227/274.27, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.261/273.83, Was #2
Right Lane: Mark Taliaferro Runs 5.397/261.78, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.373/270.05, Was #9

Whiteley made an awesome run - the quickest and fastest ever by a supercharged alcohol car. Wow! Obviously, both numbers are career-bests.

Taliaferro's car was making darting moves toward the centerline. Somehow, he managed to stay in his own lane.

Jim Whiteley's incremental times: 60ft-0.913 sec., 330ft-2.326, 660ft-3.442/221.34 mph, 1,000ft-4.407.

Congrats to Jim, Norm and the whole team.

Jim Whiteley's qualifying numbers were the best ever for a blown car. This is Whiteley's 6th #1 spot of the year, he has won the event in three of the previous five times. He has also won this race three times.
Again, Wow!!! Whiteley sawed the tree down, then ran the quickest and fastest run ever for a blown car - for the second round in a row. He will have lane choice against Finke in round two.

Jim Whiteley's incremental times: 60ft-0.909 sec., 330ft-2.319, 660ft-3.431/222.29 mph, 1,000ft-4.389.

Also this number is pretty mind blowing too - 222.29 mph at half track!!!!! Norm Grimes - you are a bad man!!! Two incredible runs back to back Congratulations again to the whole team.

Those were the two most impressive runs-the injected cars are going to be demanding more nitro to keep up with Whitely and Demke, although Richie Bourke's 5.24 within the last two months was pretty impressive too!

Both Cars looked very strong that last round. Whitley's car almost sounded like there is still some room left in it. Just a freakin flawless pass.

Spent the last 5 minutes crawling under my desk looking for my jaw... it's history... :D:eek:

Post Of The Year Nominee!!!

Michael: great call on Norm!!! BAD, BAD MAN!!! And what can he come up w/for tomorrow???? A 5.teen???

Dave: yep on the more nitro!!!

5.178 at a booming 277.43!! Like the K-man my jaw is gone  Norm Grimes is a bad, bad bad man!!!

oh wow.
Micheal --we thought maple grove would hold ................

Barry, I wish I extended my trip and went to Pomona, what a meeting, what a year!!

Brent - I think it is too 5.17 @ 277 from a blown alcohol car - unreal!! Great to see the BAD's back at the top too with Jim and Chris just flat out running bad arse!!!

Also a mention to John Lombardo - what a string of impressive runs in TAFC!!! Very Frank Manzo like.

Mike

It will be a tragedy if that isn't voted the run of the year. Hands down winner IMO.

That was a team of bad hombres with a bad hot rod all weekend. They'd lay down something strong, and then when you thought they couldn't possibly improve next session - they did!

Those numbers are amazing! And beyond a great tune-up and great conditions, that was a quantum leap, as if they found something.
