[coverattach=1]Jeg Coughlin enters this weekend’s race in Madison as the NHRA Full Throttle Pro Stock points leader following his runner-up finish at the most recent NHRA event in Atlanta.

In 2009, Jeg is off to one of the best starts of his career as he has been to four final rounds in six races, earning two wins (Phoenix and Las Vegas) and two runner-up finishes (Gainesville and Atlanta). Jeg has a 16-4 record in elimination rounds this season.

Jeg won the Pro Stock title at Gateway Int’l Raceway in 2002, defeating Greg Anderson in the final round. He also has runner-up finishes in 1998 and 2007.

In ten career appearances at Gateway Int’l Raceway, Jeg has a round-win record of 17-9 in Pro Stock competition.

As a sportsman racer Jeg claimed the Super Stock title at the 1997 Madison event, driving his brother John’s car to a final round victory. That season, Jeg set a record by winning NHRA national events in four different classes; Pro Stock, Comp, Super Stock, and Super Gas.

Jeg’s best starting position in Madison is No. 3, which he accomplished in 2000. He has started from the top half of the Pro Stock field in 9 of ten races and his average qualifying position is sixth.

Jeg is the reigning NHRA Pro Stock champion. He has earned four NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series Pro Stock titles in his career, including back-to-back titles in 2007 and 2008. His other titles came in 2000 and 2002. As a sportsman racer, Jeg also captured the Super Gas championship in 1992.

With 43 career Pro Stock wins, Jeg ranks fourth all-time among Pro Stock drivers. Only Warren Johnson (96), Bob Glidden (85) and Greg Anderson (57) have more titles.

In 242 career Pro Stock races, Jeg has reached the final round 72 times, recording 43 wins. Including his sportsman victories, Jeg has won 56 times

Jeg is ranked No. 6 in the K&N Horsepower Challenge standings. The K&N Challenge is a special event that will take place in Norwalk, Ohio on June 27. It is a special $50,000 to win event that is open only to the top eight Pro Stock racers based on their qualifying performance over the previous year.
