IT’S OFFICIAL: THE STRIP AT LAS VEGAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY TO HOST 2012 NHRA JEGS PACIFIC SPORTSNATIONALS

GLENDORA, Calif. (July 11, 2012) – NHRA announced today it will move the 2012 NHRA JEGS Pacific SPORTSnationals event to The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Oct. 12-14.

“JEGS is pleased to have the 2012 JEGS Pacific SPORTSnationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway,” said Scott Woodruff, director of media and motorsports marketing at JEGS. “This facility was at the top of our list when we needed to search for a new location and it represents a great venue for the top sportsman racers in the west to showcase their talents and passion.”

The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will have a test-and-tune day on Thursday, Oct. 11 for participants of the JEGS Pacific SPORTSnationals and will conduct a series of specialty races over the course of the weekend including gambler races on Thursday and Friday.

“The staff at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is dedicated to the sportsman racing community and we look forward to hosting the JEGS Pacific SPORTSnationals and making it enjoyable and successful for everyone involved,” said Chris Powell, president, Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The event is the last of three NHRA JEGS SPORTSnationals held across the country in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. Earlier this year, the JEGS Cajun SPORTSnationals was held at No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, La. with more than 500 racers in attendance. The next NHRA JEGS SPORTSnationals is scheduled for Sept. 21-23 at National Trail Raceway near Columbus, Ohio.

Headquartered in Glendora, Calif., NHRA is the primary sanctioning body for the sport of drag racing in the United States. NHRA presents 23 national events featuring the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series and NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by ProCare Rx. NHRA provides competition opportunities for drivers of all levels in the NHRA Summit Racing Series and the NHRA Drags: Street Legal Style presented by AAA.
