I love scanning the archives, sometimes you find some good stuff! 17 years ago on NHRA Today skip to the 18:10 mark where Steve Evans made this announcement.

And it wasn't another 15 minutes after that the 320 mph barrier was broken!

I think Bob Frey summed it up best after Evans' announcement.

I also loved the "They are not gonna run the eighth mile or 1,000 feet."

I wonder what ever happened to that idea then.

A lot of old timers say they remember the good ole days of drag racing in the 60's and 70's. For me it was the mid - late 90's. My glory days.

They looked even better when they were front-engined and didn't look like rolling billboards. You can see them at the Garlits Museum.

Speaking of burnouts... 13:52 is a good lesson in how to do a funny car burnout.

such a better show back then, with about 8 good years left.....not to be mistaken for goodyears
when was the last time you heard a national event crowd cheer as loud as the skuza/force burnout
in this video.....incredible, sure miss the sights & sounds from this era.

I recall saying on a message board (maybe a previous version of Nitromater) that if anyone was going to run 320, it would happen on Sunday morning. I don't think I ever thanked Cory for proving me right.

The Skuza/Force burnouts were great. The run itself, even better.
