HERNANDEZ HAS UNFINISHED BUSINESS IN VEGAS

LAS VEGAS (October 25, 2007) - It's been a banner year for the newly-crowned 2007 AMS Pro Mod World Champion Josh Hernandez, but there's two more things on his list to accomplish before the season is completely in the books: Win the $50,000 ProCare Rx Pro Mod Clash, and win the ACDelco Vegas NHRA Nationals this weekend.

Hernandez entered the Clash as the top qualifier, driving the most consistent car in the past five AMS Pro Mod races. Thanks largely to the tuning expertise of Howard Moon, Hernandez has rattled off consistent 5.9 and 6.0 runs since the season began. Hernandez credits Moon for the five races he has won thus far, and for the overall performance and success of his racing.

"I can't say it enough, Howard Moon is amazing. Without his horsepower and the support of Tommy Lipar and Dave and Gidget Wood, the success of the team would not have been possible," he said.

"Coming into this last race of the season, I really want to top things off with a double win - it would be the perfect ending to the best year of my life.

"Having Roger Burgess of ProCare Rx get involved and back the Clash has really added a new dimension to the races because every lap down the track has been critical," Hernandez said.

In the first round of the Clash, Hernandez will face off against the formidable 2006 AMS World Champion, Jay Payne and his Brad Anderson tuned machine.

"Any time I pull up next to Jay, I definitely take my job seriously. He's a full-time driver and an incredibly tough competitor, and I know I'll have to be on top of my game to get past him. I don't usually get nervous or feel butterflies, but, with that $25,000 cash prize being dangled in front of me, I'm really focused on doing well," he said.

The first round of qualifying on Friday for all cars competing in the event is scheduled for 3:00 p.m., and the first round of the ProCare Rx Clash is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., followed by the remaining cars in their second round of qualifying. Saturday's schedule begins with the semifinals of the clash scheduled at 11:15 a.m. followed by the final qualifying session for the remaining cars. The finals of the Clash will be contested at 2 p.m. between the nitro and Pro Stock qualifying sessions, and the first round of eliminations is scheduled for 5 p.m. The balance of eliminations will be completed on Sunday, October 28.
