RICHMOND, VA, pre-race: Doug Herbert is not one to sit around when things aren't going his way. That's why the driver of the Snap-on Tools Top Fuel dragster will use the last three races on the NHRA Drag Racing Series schedule to begin testing for 2007. Beginning at this weekend's Torco Racing Fuels NHRA Nationals, Herbert and his team will begin testing to improve on their performance and consistency as the tour goes down to the wire.
The race at Richmond is the first NHRA national event held at beautiful Virginia Motorsports Park since 2000 and the perfect setting for Herbert to end his disappointing 2006 season on a high note. The track is close to Herbert' Lincolnton, North Carolina facility and it will give the Snap-on team a chance to regroup before heading out West for the final two races of the year.
"I haven't been happy with how our team has been performing," said Herbert flatly. "But we have all the best parts, the latest pieces and greatest tools and I'm extremely confident that we will be running better soon. The Snap-on Tools team is a hard working bunch of guys and we are all determined to do all we can to improve our performance. We would love nothing more to win a race before the end of the year and ride that momentum into next season."
