Lincolnton, N.C. (Feb. 20, 2007) – Doug Herbert announced today that Doug Kuch will no longer be serving as crew chief for his Snap-on Tools Top Fuel dragster.
“This was a mutual decision,” said Herbert. “We talked and decided a change was needed. When you want a championship like we do, sometimes things have to change.”
Jim Brissette will be taking over the reins as Herbert’s crew chief. The Herbert-Brissette combination has seen marked success in the past, including four IHRA championships, Herbert’s first NHRA national event victory and his historical first pass into the 4.80s (Pomona 1, 1992).
“Brissette and I have worked together for years. We have a great record and want to win a championship,” said Herbert. “With the rest of the team still intact, we are going to take our time and make the right decision. Right now, we are looking inside our team to find the right person to assist Brissette. In fact, the team is working hard right now getting ready for Phoenix.”
Herbert and Brissette will face first round qualifying action of the Checker Schuck’s Kragen NHRA Nationals on Friday.
