Hanna hoping to turn corner at home track

BAYTOWN, Texas - In what has been an up and down rookie season, NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car driver Will Hanna and the Advanced Transmission Center/Clack Motorsports team hope to turn the proverbial corner at this weekend's Division 4 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Houston Raceway Park. Hanna hopes to have a break out event at the track where he started racing Jr. Dragsters 13 years ago.

Hanna, 27, from nearby Richwood, Texas, is excited about getting to come back 'home' to HRP.

"This is where I made my first pass down the drag strip," said Hanna. "I made my first 'big car' passes here, and it's where I did most of my Funny Car licensing. We posted our best speed [250.27 mph] here at the national here in April, so I really feel at home at this track. If we can get the nickel and dime parts breakage monkey off our back and get a solid first run in, we'll be looking pretty good. We have a few things we're going to test on Thursday, so hopefully that will give us a run on the weekend."

Team Owner/Crew Chief Harry Clack is looking forward to running at a track that is regarded as one of the best in the country.

"Houston Raceway Park is a top notch facility," stated Clack. "We have made more runs down this track than any other. We tested there this summer and we plan to test on Thursday before the event. We collected some good data at our last outing in St. Louis, and I'm looking forward to what the weekend holds for the team."

Qualifying begins on Friday, followed by two more sessions on Saturday. Final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday. Stay tuned to InsideTopAlcohol.com for the latest news in alcohol racing.
