GRAND BEND, ONTARIO (September 3, 2009) – With three events completed in the 2009 Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts, the entry of Darren Grubb leads the contingent of Top Dragsters and Top Sportsman cars that compete in this up and coming drag race series.

Grubb, who drives the Grubb Racing 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier, leads the Championship Point Award Series with 628 points going into the fourth event of the season, the Fourth Annual PMRA Challenge & NAPA Auto Parts Quick 32 Sportsman Series at the Grand Bend Motorplex September 5-6.

Next is the Mullis chassised-dragster of Michael Kalin of Youngstown, New York, winner of the previous event, with 612 points. Third with 609 points is Jamie Bridge of Napanee, Ontario, with his Undercover dragster, fourth with 587 points is the 1957 Chevy entry of Paul Martin of Breslau, Ontario, and Carl Spiering of Jordan Station, Ontario, with his 2007 Chevy Cobalt is fifth with 579 points.

Rounding out the top ten in the Championship Point Award Series are Spencer Hyde of Stratford, Ontario, Kevin Wicke also of Stratford, T.J. Schippling of Shakespeare, Ontario, the team of Mike Wagg of Waterdown, Ontario and Dave Bell of Grand Bend, and Mitch Elliott from Woodstock, Ontario.

Along with Quick 32 Sportsman Series racing, the PMRA Pro Modifieds will be holding its fifth race of the series in what will be an exciting and busy weekend of drag racing.

The weekend-long event will include nitro Funny Car match racing, nostalgia Funny car match racing, a jet-powered Kenworth truck, and a full card of regular Grand Bend competitors, including the track’s Top Dragster/Top Sportsman Series, Junior Dragsters, and a full compliment of Bracket racing.

The first of three qualifying sessions for the Quick 32 Sportsman Series gets underway Saturday, September 5 at 3:30 pm. Qualifying continues during Saturday, and the first round of eliminations are scheduled to take place Sunday, September 6 at 11:30 a.m.

The Teamsters Canada Thunder by the Beach Weekend presented by Rudy Held's Performance Centre will be featuring the "Night of Nitro" Nitro Funny car Match races between IHRA World Champion Dale Creasy Jr. and Canadian star Jason Duschene, plus Nostalgia Alcohol Funny cars and the Fourth Annual - PMRA Challenge, Pro Modified Racing Association. This high-profile event will take place Saturday and Sunday, September 5-6 at the Grand Bend Motorplex in Grand Bend, Ontario.

The weekend will also include the popular Quick 32 Sportsman Series, Quick 32 Sportsman Series, presented by NAPA Auto Parts, featuring Top Dragster and Top Sportsman action all weekend with exciting six and seven-second race cars.

Highlights Saturday night will include the Nitro Funny Car Match Race, the 210-miles per hour Extreme Machine Jet Kenworth, and Geoff Pollard’s 230-miles per hour Top Fuel Drag Bike starting at 6:00 p.m.

Also on tap will be the Grand Bend Motorplex Top Dragster and Top Sportsman Series and some great racing action in the Thunder series and Junior programs, all topped off by our biggest Fireworks show of the year on Saturday night.

There will be three qualifying sessions on Saturday, September 5 starting at 3:30 p.m. and the championship eliminations will begin Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
