Greg Anderson out in semifinal by six thousandths of a second Ends quest for third win in a row

MADISON, Ill. (May 6, 2007) – When a driver pulls his car into the lane opposite Greg Anderson, you can bet that they bring their “A” game.

Such was the case when Jeg Coughlin pulled his Chevy Cobalt into the lane opposite Anderson ’s KB Racing -owned, Summit Racing Equipment Pontiac GTO in the semifinal round of the 11th annual NHRA O’Reilly Midwest Nationals today at Gateway International Raceway.

At the green light, Coughlin was away in .004 seconds (.000 being perfect) to .027 seconds for Anderson . Anderson gave chase the whole Madison , Ill. , quarter-mile coming up 6 thousandths of a second short. The KB Racing GM DRCE3 engine powered Anderson to an elapsed time of 6.690 seconds, while Coughlin recorded a time of 6.707 seconds.

“We ran out of room today,” said Anderson . “He (Coughlin) got up on the wheel. He did what he had to do and had a good running car. Those two (Cagnazzi Racing) cars ran great all day. My Summit Racing Pontiac ran good too. We just didn’t run quite good enough and I guess I didn’t have quite good enough lights. It’s a double whammy. Obviously my car ran quicker than his car and I lost. That means he beat me as a driver, but I can live with that. I’ve just got to find a way to get better. It’s that simple. I not holding my head down but I know I’ve got to get better. This class is too close.”

Anderson maintains his commanding lead in the NHRA POWERade Pro Stock point standings as the KB Racing team head to Bristol , Tenn. The NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series moves from the Midwest to the East for the seventh annual NHRA O’Reilly Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway, May 18-20.
