BAYTOWN, Texas – Houston Raceway Park General Manager Seth Angel announced today the signing of Goodridge Hoses & Fittings as the title sponsor of the upcoming Goodridge Hoses & Fittings Spring Stampede Test Session presented by DragRaceHose.com, Feb. 27-Mar. 1. The event will host some of the top names in professional and sportsman drag racing as they prepare for the 2009 season.

Chuck Westcott, Director of Motorsports – Indianapolis, is excited about Goodridge becoming involved in the event.

“We are excited about partnering with Houston Raceway Park to become the title-rights sponsor of this event,” said Westcott. “It is the best of both worlds for us because the professional and sportsman racers are equally important to us. This will give us an opportunity to showcase our products to the racers at the event, along with gaining the national exposure such an event is sure to generate.”

The event will allow both professional, semi-pro and sportsman racers alike to te st on Houston Raceway Park’s world-class racing surface for three days. Event organizers Seth Angel and Will Hanna expect a large turnout of racers from the region, many of which will be making their first runs of the year.

“We just finished grinding our concrete launch pad to ensure the best racing surface we can provide,” stated Angel. “This event is one week before the ADRL [Outlaw Pro Mod] season opener and a month before the O’Reilly Spring Nationals, so it gives racers from the area a chance to fine tune their combinations for our upcoming events. With a fresh racing surface and our near sea-level altitude, our events this year should provide some record numbers. ”

Hanna cites the scheduling of the event should provide a large turnout for a variety of race teams.

“We’re one week before the ADRL opener, so we expect a fair amount of their racers,” cited Hanna. “The Division 4 schedule starts a little later this year, so this gives many of the local sportsman racers an opportunity to test. Its one week after the NHRA Phoenix National event, so many of the pro teams will be passing right by Baytown on their way to Gainesville, Fla. Not to mention, the event is open to cars that run many of the local racing series. I’m proud to have my company, DragRaceHose.com associated with it.”
