GIR to Host Extreme Weekend with NOPI, All Harley Drags April 18-20
MADISON, Ill. – Racing action at Gateway International Raceway goes to the extreme April 18-20 with two separate attractions when both NOPI and the All Harley Drag Racing Association take over the facility. The AHDRA invades GIR’s NHRA-sanctioned dragstrip for the Gypsy Rendezvous Nationals and NOPI brings its brand of high-octane excitement to the 1.6-mile road course.
AHDRA action launches Friday with kick-start parties at area Harley Davidson dealers that include live entertainment, free food, and driver appearances. The party moves to GIR on Saturday when the racing begins on the dragstrip along with the National H.O.G. Pit Stop.
On Sunday, the action hits full-throttle with more great AHDRA racing action along with the Biking Life Magazine bike show and the Dyna Street-Bob Bike Raffle.
While that’s taking place on the dragstrip, NOPI will be on GIR’s road course with its unique style of controlled chaos. The NOPI Motorsports show is a series of professional drift competition, a car show with over 32 classes, live entertainment, and NOPI’s famous swimsuit competition.
The NOPI Motorsports Show is Saturday and Sunday with single and tandem drift racing and an after-dark party Saturday night along with the neon car show and live music.
“That weekend is going to have a little bit of everything for everyone,” GIR Vice President and General Manager Lenny Batycki said. “For the straight-line fans and the motorcycle enthusiasts, the AHDRA will provide a great weekend of action. For the ‘Fast and the Furious’ crowd, NOPI will tear it up on the road course. It’s going to be an extreme weekend at Gateway and we’re looking forward to hosting the diverse crowd it will bring.”
