[coverattach=1]Mansfield, Texas --After several months of anticipation, Gaylen Smith & Mark Eddins of Lenmar Motorsports, took delivery of their brand new Tim McAmis 1957 Chevy Bellair Pro-Mod that the Texas Bounty Hunter Team has nicknamed "Hellaire". The car was delivered and assembled just in time to make it out to their ADRL Debut in Rockingham a couple of weeks ago and then travel back to the Texas Outlaw Pro-Mod double header that was scheduled for September 18th and 19th in Kennedale and Crandall, Texas.
The opening pass at the Rock provided the team with a stellar 3.778 elapse time with a speed of 201.43 and landed them in the 5th qualifying position, that time proved to hold up for the beginning of eliminations and placed them in the 9th position when the festivities began on Saturday evening. On the same pass as the team was celebrating, their work was just beginning (again) as the Hellaire's throttle hung on that pass and caused enough carnage that the team had to change to the back up motor to finish the race.
"Our team really came together" Smith said, "from the moment the car was delivered, we worked endless amounts of hours to try and make our goal to debut at the Rock. You just never know how a brand new car is going to perform and I can't thank our whole team enough for all of the 110% effort that was put forth to make this happen."
Changing the motor didn't hurt the Hellaire's performance in any way as Smith's team proceeded to power their way down the track into the 2nd round of competition at the Rock for the debut of "Hellaire".
From the Rock, the Texas Bounty Hunter Team headed back to Texas for the TOPMA (Texas Outlaw Pro-Mod Association) double header scheduled for the following weekend where they are in the running for the 2009 TOPMA Championship and the $30,000 purse that comes with the title position.
Due to the heavy rains in the Dallas - Fort Worth area, the Friday night race has been rescheduled for September 25th, however racing was able to slowly take place on September 19th at the brand new Dallas Raceway in Crandall, Texas.
"There were 19 cars in attendance for an eight car field, so we knew that every pass in qualifying was going to be substantial in getting the Hellaire into the show to keep us in contention for the TOPMA Championship" noted Smith, "we made it in to the 6th position, but in first round we had a fuel line break after the burnout which forced us to abort the run.
"Fortunately, at these races, we have the option to run test runs if time allows, so we fixed up the lines and ran a decent 3.97 in the 1/8th to gather up some data for our next outing which is the re-scheduled race at Kennedale when TOPMA runs the next race" concludes Smith.
The Texas Bounty Hunter Team will also be attending their next ADRL Race in Ennis, Texas when the LenMar Motorsports World Finals occur on October 23rd and 24th, 2009.
Smith would like to also give a huge thank you to his wife of 21 years, Celeste. She is also the team manager and organizes many of the teams arrangements along with working at Lenmar Motorsports.
Smith along with Mark Eddins founded Lenmar Motorsports in 2006. They have since expanded their business to specialize in high-performance engines, chassis modifications and facility a turn key machine shop. Lenmar Motorsports is also a VP Fuel and NOS Distributor and proud sponsor for the TOPMA series and the ADRL.
