Gateway King of the Track Rescheduled for April 21

Gateway International Raceway's NHRA Member Program King of the Track qualifier has been rescheduled to Saturday April 21 from its originally scheduled date of Saturday April 14, which was cancelled due to the weather conditions.

The King of the Track qualifier will be contested as part of Gateway’s Weekly Saturday Points Program. The Gateway King of the Track Classes will be Super Pro 1/4 mile, Pro E.T., Street E.T., and Pro Bike. The winners of each King of the Track class will go head to head for a Wally, NHRA’s most sought-after trophy, and the honor of being Gateway's King of the Track.

In pass years, the King of the Track Finals has been run on the same night as the qualifying races. This year Gateway has worked with the NHRA to run the Gateway King of the Track finals on Saturday May 5 during the NHRA O’Reilly Auto Parts Midwest Nationals Powerade Series Event.

“This is a very exciting opportunity to get our weekly racers exposure during our national event. Being the King of the Track at Gateway or even a finalist for the King of the Track is a very big deal and deserves the big stage that the NHRA O’Reilly Auto Parts Midwest Nationals provides. I can’t wait for our racers to have this opportunity,” said Jason Dukes, Gateway’s Drag Racing Manager.

Midnight Madness Returns to Gateway
Midnight Madness, the program that anchors Gateway’s Keep it off the Street – Safe Racing Campaign, returns to Gateway this Friday, April 20. The event runs from 8 PM to 3 AM and provides complete motorsports overload to anyone in attendance.

The event includes St. Louis Style Outlaw Street Racing, which is a hybrid of Gateway’s world famous NHRA drag racing and outlaw street racing. Gateway’s has taking drag racing concepts such is safety, prepared track, and timeslips, and meshed them with street racing concepts such as insta-green starts and no scoreboards.

Midnight Madness is also the only place in St. Louis to view or participate in the driftstl.com and Adrenaline Motorsports Drift. And its also the best place to watch the metro area’s own Streetfighterz motorcycle stunt team do their crazy, jaw-dropping motorcycle stunt performance.

The night doesn’t go without music, as Midnight Madness is the home of the stlriverfrontradio.com concert series. This Friday’s event will have performances by “the King of St. Louis Underground Hip Hop” Rucka Puff, Costlofobic, Skaddalz, D. Jizzle, Jelly Joe, J.Jerka, Young Meachie, L.M.N.O.P, Gutter Entertainment and 2 E-Z Entertainment.

Adding to the motorsports overload is the mechanical bull which will be present in the stlsr.com expo area. The stlsr.com expo area will be jumping with interactive displays and booths by HTP, Showoff Audiosports, Speed & Sound, Street Speed, Ciao Bella Scooters, Lowe Performance, Polk Audio, Club Scion, Ackerman, and Street Rollerz.

It costs $20 to race and $10 to enjoy the party all night long. For more information log onto Gateway International Raceway or call 866-35-SPEED.
