I think it would be classic if Andrew Hines had a dumbell or weightbar looking object sewn on his leathers... What a great performance yesterday... Only a matter of time before Graham makes them start running fat boys...

BTW, ow about that DSR Suzuki? They are flying too!

So.... Steve is showing how quick you can make those old Suzukis run. The others can't say the Suzuki can't run that quick.

The engine that the DSR Suzuki is running is a new design. I seem to remember Don saying that they had a contract with Suzuki to develop, and compete, with the new engine. I believe that he also said that Schumacher Electric would be the sponsor after the ARMY sponsorship went away.

I'm not going to get into a rule change issue but I will say that at least our team needs to do a better job in the clutch and gear ratio area that is were the DSR bike shines. They are runing the same old style engine as we do.

Isn't DSR supposed to be developing a new engine, in conjunction with Mclaren? I thought I read that during the off-season. I also believe that they would be running the 'old' engine design until late in the season, when the new stuff was ready to go.

At this point I don't know. We are V/H customers now so we will have to see what they might have in store for us at that time.

Yes we are developing a new Suzuki engine but it is still in the developmental stage. Steve and Chip and the crew are doing a great job with the engine we have and we really look forward to the new Suzuki running in the future. Should be a couple of months before we are out with it testing

I'd still like to know why NHRA didn't allow Gann's new cyl. head. Something needs to be done with the 4's, this v-twin BS is too much.

I have a hard time understanding why Suzuki would spend a ton of money developing a new motor. If they do and it makes a ton of power and goes like hell NHRA will slap a bunch of weight on it until it runs no better than what they have now. The average fan wants to see an american bike win and that is what NHRA will give them.
When Harley went to the NHRA with the big check and wanted to race PSB I personaly felt the party was over for any foreign brand.
Being as how Harley owns both Buill and Harley it is a win/win situation for them no matter which one wins.

As for the Gahn head, my opinion. When the new Suzuki motor comes out, everyone not on a HD will likley make the switch. What I understand, and Don, feel free to correct me if I am wrong, this motor will have a Suzuki part number.

If the Gahn head was made legal, probably no one would buy it with the new motor a few months away. Gahn would be allowed to run it, and I guess NHRA felt this would give them an advantage for several months.

I feel that if the new Suzuki motor was not in the works, they would have OKed the Gahn head.

It is a shame the way they jacked Blake around.

I realize that Suzuki and the other Japanese scoots sell more inlines, than V-twins. But, they do have V-twins. Why not develop them, to go after the Harleys?
Crazy

I don't think NHRA would allow them, probably because they'd kick the Hardley's and Buell's butts so badly it wouldn't be funny. How would it look when the Buell's and Hardley's were regularly getting their butts handed to them by Japanese V-twins? It would be a miracle if Harley or Buell could come up with something even close to the 9 year old Suzuki TL engines. Also look at what they used to do in the retired Hot Rod Cruiser class...big Yammies running low 9's all the time.
