This is sad news. We need Steve. Truth is only 8-9 teams race for the championship. Hauling and hiring a team to go out first round sucks.

Sad to read this, with T/F class already hurting for cars this is bad news. I understand family and business come first. Hopefully this is not that hand writing on the wall of parking it next year. No mention on Competition plus of future plans or the crew. Hopefully Richard, Dom and the rest of the crew can find a team or two to help out for the final two races while putting out feelers for next year just in case.

This is not exactly breaking news. No not good for the class at all but he has stated he was not going to run the full tour.

After Mark Oswald had funny cars sponsored by Jeff and Susan Bernstein (no relation to Kenny) and the Petosa brothers out of NYC around 1991 , he told some us fans the next year; it's hard to keep successful, wealthy people interested in sponsoring a race car more than a couple years at best. They didn't get to where they are by lighting up thousand dollar bills every pass , owning a nitro car. He was so thankful of all the years of sponsorship from Paul Candies , who was just a diehard racer at heart. Remember , Don Garlits said: "You have to hate money to Drag Race." Not that money is holding Torrence back, but for most racers , time AND money are never in enough supply. Hope Jasmine is out there next year , anywhere.
