Wonder if O'Reilly knew what they were buying, or if they uncovered it and sent the SEC their way... Ugh...

I had no idea that CSK/O'Reilly was only the third largest auto parts retailer with AutoZone and Advance Auto Parts being the top two. Looking at AAP's website, there isn't even one single store west of the Rockies.

In Phoenix CSK stores are like Mcd. seem like one on every corner. The problem is they try to sell everything but automotive parts. TV's Quads & dirt bikes and anything else made in China. IMHO For auto parts, If NAPA don't have it I don't need it.

One of the execs wasn't named Evan Knoll was it? lol and yea for the money napa is the best place for parts

It used to be that almost every town of any size had a local parts house that took care of a lot of needs of everybody, including a lot of machine shop jobs. Then came along the big box stores and franchisees and the small local store for the most part went away.
Now except for maybe one or two employees, we have kids with a comuter who don't know the difference between a third member gasket for a 8.75 Mopar rear end and their own rear end. Our local Shuck's was a training store and even on a good day there weren't enough smarts to run a Hoover vacuum cleaner. Kinda like going to SEARS for a SEARSSUCKER suit. Except for a couploe of guys, the NAPA store here isn't much better. They have the stuff but you gotta do all the work for them most of the time. We have the last small independent parts house left in the area and the guy is hanging on by a thread. He know's what you're talking and asks all the right questions about your needs, but most of the time you have to order them and get it over night or maybe and extra day because he doesn't have the cash on hang to stock other than high turnover items. Personally I give him as much business as I can unless I have to go to NAPA for a can't wait deal.

I was pleased to read Maynard Jenkins wasn't charged. As I understand it, he was the principal executive that penned the Worsham's deal that lasted so long.
