Did you catch the comment on TV from John about his team's struggles this year? He said (essentially), that to have four cars, but only one is running well, is a real quandry. Each chassis has its own personality, and they just haven't figured out the other three. He can understand it being the driver or crew chief if it was one or two cars, but that for three to be messed up, it has to be the car.

Insightful comment, I thought. But then again, they share so much data and tuneup, you gotta wonder if it's something they're sharing between themselves and not the car. Some sort of "sucky tuneup" virus. ;)

I think I heard that 'chassis personality like a women' comment about 4-5 times over the course of the broadcast haha:p

there's gonna' be some major a** kickin' in FC pretty soon, and
the Hight team's gonna' be wearin' the boot.

Force did mention about their cars using the bigger tubing.
then again the drivers weight may have something to do with it??
wonder if they tried putting say John in Ashleys car if it still runs as good.

Interesting comments he made about the way they were mounting the body may be causing the problem by not letting the chassis flex. I was wondering about the new pipe and how the non heat treated chassis would react. I had always heard that you could build 2 frames that were "identical" but they would still react differently because of the inconsistencies of the material. You have to wonder if this is the case, or is the problem due to the way they mounted the body with all the extra bracing being a problem. I never saw any pics of what he was talking about so maybe someone that has seen the car at the track can shed some light on this.

A friend who toured JFR during Memorial Day open house was told that they have a facility nearby where they will fabricate their own bodies.
I don't know if this has happened yet. If it has, this could certainly be another variable, if not, it could be an opportunity or the source of more problems. Fabricating carbon fiber is way more complicated than laying up fiberglass.

Perhaps someone more closely connected to JFR could shed some light on this.
