What happened in the first round at Norwalk? I caught a part of the sportsman show and Courtney was in tears after Mike confronted her after their first round match up.

I was on the starting line. I had no idea about what occurred at the end of the track.

I did notice that when he had the Alcohol motor screaming that she did take a long time. Enough that I thought this without knowing about the confrontation.

But I do not think it was intentional.

So you have an in between opinion here.

Mike is right it but I do not think it was a planned intentional thing.

Maybe just lack of experience ?

Aren't the alcohol motors always screaming when they start staging, at least by the the 2nd bulb? If she made him wait the full 7 seconds, then that doesn't seem like such a long time. Quite the contrast with A/Fuel cars as they are just at idle until they mash the throttle.

of course they do but when you are sitting in the car waiting that 7 seconds might seem longer than to the rest of us.

Also Mike has been doing this for ? about 40 years; I would say he is a good judge. I don't think he has a habit of getting angry for no reason.

I like them both and respect them both.

She would be wise to humbly listen to him I would say

I was watching and it didn't seem at all long to me. It was no where near seven seconds. Both sat in Pre-Stage for a few seconds before staging, but once Mike lit the second one Courtney was right there. I wasn't at the turn around but my feeling is it was a heat of the moment thing and if it hadn't been Courtney, no one would have even noticed. As I understand it, they talked afterward, traded apoligies and both are OK with it.

I'm guessing most of you have no idea how often a driver gets out and tells the other guy (or girl) "That was a little long up there" only to go back, look at the tape and realize that it was 2.5 seconds. Driver A then goes to driver B's pit and says, "sorry about that". And we all get back to our lives. I bet it happens three or four times a weekend.

Who won the race? I'm guessing Courtney if she got her ass chewed out.

Whether if you win or lose has got nothing to do with. I know a few drivers that will be more than happy to comeover and tell you what a jagoff your are, after they just beat you.

Actually I'm kinda surprised with all the John Force Racing zealots in the world. I figured something would've been posted about this 4 days ago.

As far as Im concerned once the Pre Stage bulbs have been lit its all a competition from there on and you should be prepared. I wonder had he won if he would have had the same reaction?

I was wondering if A&E was there to tape Courtney getting schooled by a veteran of the sport.

I don't know the specifics of this incident apart from what I read here, but just because you are a veteran of the sport doesn't mean you have earned the right to be a dick.

Maybe she deserved a few stern words, maybe she didn't. From the sounds of it everything worked out fine.

My thoughts exactly. If you want everything to be done how you want it done go race yourself. Or ask your opponent if you can give them a radio and you will then instruct them on how you want them to race.

Hell, If I even feel like i took along time or accidentally put both lights on at once I make a point to say to the guy sorry about that, win or lose. Its funny though when they win they seem to be alot cooler about it

I tend to agree too, no one said he had to go in first.......and just because he did, why should his opponent rush their staging routine?
