I'm pretty sure Foley bought money to the table otherwise Harris would be driving it right now! While I like Foley, I won't root for him because the Dotes seem to lack integrity and were just seeing $$$$ signs.

....and a fire suit.... and competition license... and medical card... you know... simple stuff like that and you'd be golden!

From my understanding, if Harris had shown up at Phoenix with those items in her possession she would still be driving the car.

The car was being housed at Doug's shop, crewed by Doug's crew, and Doug was planning on running his own car at a few races also which meant that another crew had to be brought in for this car. So it was a no brainer to combine the two operations into one and run twice as many events. Nobody bought anybody's seat in this deal. We need to get over it and go on with life.

Hey Virgil, thanks for the explanation on Foley.

But here's my questions. First, from what I read Jessie's competition license had expired and she had to get a new one hence testing in AZ, so what does it matter if she left the old one at home? Secondly, how much does a Firesuit cost? If she didn't bring one, buy a new one! Same with the med card, can't they just apply for a new one?

If that is true it seems like a pretty poor reason for letting her go.

Samuel, are you serious? Your statements don't even qualify as sarcasm. How long do you stay employed if you show up for work totally unprepared to do the job you are being paid to do? My employees would last about 3 minutes. It is their responsiblity to be prepared to do their job.

A medical card requires an FAA medical exam by a certified doctor and then a review of the forms by NHRA. You are not allowed to make ANY runs without a current medical card with you.

I haven't seen a store where I can just go down and buy a firesuit. They are custom manufactured one at a time and take a while to get.

If you leave your expired license at home, if that was the case, then you cannot prove you had one and then you make 6 runs instead of three on two different dates to be able to apply for a license.

Sam, those pieces are intricate pieces to being an NHRA licenced driver. The team had spent all of this money to haul everything out west, for you to get your license and you forgot your firesuit? If it were me I would have worn the damn thing on the plane!
I like Jessie, always have, but looks like she thought everything revolved around her and it doesn't work that way.

Dunno bout the medical card, but should'nt NHRA have documentation that she previously had a license?

She's driven fuel cars and jets before, she does'nt have a firesuit? Or did she forget it? Her old ones don't meet new regulations??

That's what I was thinking - maybe she thought her old firesuit was no longer legal and the NHRA had her on record as being previously licensed.

I was wondering if I might ask a favor? I,ve read many posts that I know nothing about. But I have also read posts in which I have a little bit of knowledge. Posts in which I might join in, or give my two cents. Now this isn,t meant as criticism, I just wish the author would give a basic explanation about the subject (i.e foleys dragster), instead I have to read all 13 posts before I can join in. I probably have been guilty of this myself, but I try my best to make it possible for others to join in when possible. I find most of the posts on this site to be pretty interesting, from some intelligent people. I have learned a great deal from you MATERS. Don,t gang up on me, I,m gettin on in years, and I need all the help I can get. Thanks Mike.

I can see Sam D's Top Fuel Team in the Pits now:

Crew Chief Sam: Ok guys, let's roll the car out of the pit space.

Crewman: Sam, we left the wheels and tires at home

Crew Chief Sam: No problem, they carry those at the local Goodyear Service Center right? I'll grab a few gallons of nitro from the gas station on the way back.

Yikes.
