Farmington hosts test session, Quick-8 season opener

(March 20, 2008) Mocksville, NC - Fans of Pro Modified doorslammers won't have to wait until Saturday to get their fix, as cars are already pouring into the 1/8 facility in Mocksville, NC to test their combinations. A healthy mixture of Quick-8 members, ADRL stars and even some blowers thrown into the mix can be expected this weekend. "Quain Stott is already here, and I'm expecting more blower cars tomorrow", commented Farmington track owner Don Plemmons.

Founder of the highly popular Quick-8 series in 1990, Plemmons is expecting a fantastic season-opener to kick off the association's 18th season. "If any non Quick-8 members shows up at one of our events, they're welcome to join on the spot and race with us", says Plemmons. "The Quick-8 Association is still for nitrous cars only, simply because I don't have the time and knowledge to police the blowers", explains Plemmons. Fans of blown entries, however, will get a rare treat at Farmington during Friday's test session, as several blower race cars are expected to attend, along with many nitrous heavy hitters. "Everyone is welcome on Friday to come and test their cars", says Plemmons.

Another name causing a stir is ADRL season-opening winner, Jim Halsey. In a telephone interview with Halsey on Thursday, the man with the quickest nitrous car on earth says he's coming to Farmington to test, and quite possibly join the Quick-8 Association on Saturday and compete in the season-opening event. "I'll definitely be there Friday and Saturday testing, and Don has extended the invitation for me to join the Quick-8", says Halsey. Should Halsey join the North Carolina-based Quick-8 show, he'll likely do battle on Saturday night with regulars like Ronnie Hood, "Tricky" Rickie Smith, Steve Vick, Randy Weatherford, Josh Chester and class champion, Buzz Varner, just to name a few.

Farmington also presents its first points race of 2008 on Saturday. Classes include Top ET, Foot Brake, Jr. Dragster, Street and also a brand new motorcycle class. Gates open Friday at 11:00am, with testing beginning at 12:00pm. Admission price is $10.00 on Friday. Saturday's Quick-8 qualifying begins at 2:00pm. Spectator Admission for Saturday's event is $15.00.
