Did not see Erica @ Epping today, then came home and saw her entry withdrawn from the entry list....very sad!

and there will be a bye first round.

Surprising considering she ran so well last weekend. hope its just a one race thing.

850 miles from Bristol to Epping , then back to Chicago 1000 Miles , low car count in Epping doesn't surprise me.
Makes more sense to run Englishtown , Epping , Bristol then Chicago ,who thinks these schedules up?

Well, this sucks, but unfortunately it was only a matter of time. It's truly a sad day when one of the most popular drivers who is a proven winner won't be able to attend a national event due to sponsor problems.

It's a sad state of affairs when a woman who is probably the most successful active woman racer, in any form of racing, cannot get a sponsor.
From a promotion point of view I would think that NHRA would be doing anything and everything they can do to assist in helping to find a sponsor but I guess the idiots in Glendora don't care. EE fits the demographic that they are trying to attract and she has to now park her car.
It's a sad day when the sport has got to this point.
To do what she has done in P/S is amazing considering that it is probably the most competitive pro class.
(To her dad Greg - I'am sure you never expected to hear this from me but I truly believe this.)
I think it's a major loss for NHRA.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Mr Lagana.

This really bites.

She was gonna be one of my picks today. :(

While yes it stinks that she's parked, think of the long list of capable drivers who are sidelined from lack of funding. What about WJ & KJ? That's not a shame? And while we all agree that the NHRA could be doing things different on many levels, at the same time I don't think it's as if they can just open a Rolodex and send sponsors to those in need. One of the biggest problems is the horrendously low TV ratings. They have tried to show live racing in hopes of boosting the ratings. I was amazed at how many people criticized them for trying. I don't know what the answer is, but drag racing isn't the only Motorsport with sidelined drivers and racers trying to get funded from event to event.

There's sadly a Malaise... This is not the 80s or 90s or even 2000s in more ways than one not even talking about fundings alone..

Not being nearly as savvy as most of you, this is the first sign of chase racing. While I am sure they do not WANT to miss races the fact is they CAN. She is 302 point ahead of 11th(who is also not racing) So why spend the money.

Race at tracks you have a solid history at, Chicago, Denver, Indy, etc. and skip the rest. You go into the chase is 6th or 7th but then the points reset.

Tom, that does make sense, while I'm sure missing races isn't part of their strategy, the Chase deal does give them the opportunity to rejoin the tour and compete for the title.
