BROWNSBURG, Ind. (Feb. 27, 2013) – Winning 198 National Hot Rod Association event titles and 11 professional world championships is demanding work and especially hard on the hands of crew members, and that’s why the biggest professional drag racing team has selected eco-friendly EF-65 as its Official Hand Cleaner.

The versatile hand cleaner that doesn’t require rinsing is in each of DSR’s seven pit areas and throughout the organization’s 120,000-square-foot headquarters that includes fabrication and CNC machine shops along with 120 employees.
DSR owner Don Schumacher, who will be inducted May 2 into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame at Talladega, Ala., insists that his teams maintain a professional appearance at all 24 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series events held throughout the country.
“We didn’t have anything like EF-65 available when I started racing in the mid-60s, but I’m glad our teams have it today,” Schumacher said. “Working on these cars is hard on your hands. Our crew guys often meet sponsors and fans, and they need something that can clean off everything from oil to clutch dust. EF-65 takes care of it all.”
EF-65 Hand Cleaner is a safe, effective hand cleaner that is a non-toxic, biodegradable gel that does not contain harsh abrasives or chemicals, and works fast to remove heavy grease, oil and dirt build up from your hands. The non-greasy formula won't leave an oily residue and won't dry out skin.
Gary Longley, president of Seattle-based EF-65, said the coconut-based “family recipe” was purchased by his father-in-law, Jack Gourlie, and originally sold door to door.
Longley began offering EF-65 to young racers as a means to help raise sponsorship funds.
“My family has been in racing since 1960 and it seemed like a way for kids to raise money for their team while learning first-hand how to do marketing,” Longley said. “They’d take bottles of EF-65 and put a picture of their racecar or team logo on it then pitch it to local businesses.”
EF-65 has been a longtime supporter of all types of racing, and has made a major step into the professional ranks by joining DSR.
“I don’t see how I could be doing any better than to be involved with Don Schumacher Racing,” Longley said. “This is the pinnacle for us and would be for any corporation to be involved with DSR.”
