"Dyno Dave" searching for the 'Big Wally' in Pomona

POMONA, Calif. - After picking up two wins on the divisional level, NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster rookie "Dyno Dave" Heitzman and the Skull Gear/Torco Race Fuels team will be looking to close the year with a national win during this weekend's season-ending Automobile Club of Southern California Finals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona. The team hopes to find the combination of consistency and performance to earn their first national event win this weekend.

Heitzman, who works for Torco Race Fuels in Decatur, Mich., hopes to return to the form that put him in two straight winner's circles in September.

"Tom Conway has this Torco car making a lot of power right now," said Heitzman. "We just need to keep working at it to get it to the ground consistently. If we can do that, maybe we can find a "big" Wally to be a daddy to our two 'small' Wally's."

"I'm the kind of guy who thinks about the weekend all week," Heitzman continued. "You want to win every race you go to, but we haven't done too bad for a first year team. The key is to constantly improve. Evan [Knoll - Team Owner and President of Torco Race Fuels] let me drive and manage this team this year, so if we can get a win this weekend, that would be the ultimate thank you to him, Skull Shine and Torco Race Fuels."

Qualifying begins on Thursday for the alcohol cars and will conclude on Friday. Eliminations begin on Saturday with round one and will conclude on Sunday. Stay tuned to InsideTopAlcohol.com for the latest news in alcohol racing.
