NHRA Penalizes Nostalgia Top Fuel Driver and Nostalgia Funny Car Driver for Rules Violation

NHRA has disqualified both Nostalgia Top Fuel driver, Rick White and Nostalgia Funny Car driver, Tim Boychuck from the 2012 Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series March Meet for a rules violation. Following a post-race inspection both driver’s fuel pumps exceeded the maximum allowance for fuel delivery. These disqualifications will result in a loss of all points earned toward the Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series and a loss of the purse money from the event.

Why did they wait 2 weeks to announce this?

They waited because it was an announcement from the NHRA. They don't do anything in a timely fashion if at all.

Secondly, does that mean Chad Head is the Winner and gets the prize money or does the NHRA just keep that too? Anybody with a rule book handy?
 
The pumps have to be flow tested at a test facility contracted by NHRA. Shipping, testing, verification, and decision making on the results could explain the time lapsed between the event and announcement.

Way to piss on the cornflakes of what was by all measures an exceptional March Meet.

Let me understand this - A Crawford, or equivalent, tests the pumps, then certs and applies a fixed seal to them. Racers get them and then can they or can't they remove the seal and do what ever and go racing?

It will be interesting if the units were certified "in compliance with the rules" with a fixed seal and the four NHRA tested units were sent for rules inspection with the seals intact.

I hope all the who-what-where-when-why comes out on this situation. Prob. at CP - they seem to practice professional journalism over there.

You're close. Crawford is the only one certified by the NHRA to flow, test and certify the pumps. According to the reports, all pumps in question were still sealed. At this point, it would appear there is one common denominator.

Okay not a babe in the woods here but if the pumps are given back to them sealed and then sent back them sealed how did they change? Did the team do some creative micro work or did they just get hit by a runaway dictatorship?

I have truly been enjoying the vintage racing since the Good Guys days but now that NHRA has gotten its hands into it it seems to have way too much drama than before. Maybe the NHRA will start sanctioning the sand drags next.
