Way to go Erica Enders Stevens becoming the 3rd consecutive double up for the Pro Stock, joining Allen Johnson and Vinny Nobile.

Plus way to go Alexis Dejoria and crew chief Tommy Delago for win #2 and on her radio communications; "Alright Motherfuckers Yeaaaah!" (yeah that was edited for the TV show :D)

I stick to what I said, Alexis will be your 2014 NHRA Funny Car Champion.

Also would not be surprised if EE does the same in Pro Stock.

I thought it was interesting that as NASCARs token female "driver" Danica Patrick started 10th at Martinsville and promptly "worked her way up" to the 31st spot, our NHRA women were winning two of the three pro classes...

I got too excited seeing "Double Up", and clicked on this thinking it was a thread about Peter Biondo's double yesterday!

But, good on Erica and Elite! That team looks stout!

nice to see this team achieving success, starting w/ricky's win @ finals last year.
great job erica, team and engine program.

And made over $85k in the process...
This might cause some flaming, but it does kind of put the $$ into perspective a little. At least I think it does ...

  • Danica was in her "office" for almost 4 hours straight bumping and banging at Martinsville to earn her $85k
  • EE was conservatively in her car for about 22 minutes (4 qualifiers, 3 elimination rounds Saturday in shoot out, and 4 elimination rounds Sunday from burn out to turn off) all weekend and earned $100k.
Not saying who worked harder for their payout, but that's where there is disproportion in the $$ between NASCAR and NHRA. Costs are equally high in both sanctions, but I sure would like to make Erica's $4,500 / minute at my job vs. the paltry $350 / minute that Danica made.

Point well taken, Jim, money-wise. My point was amid all the Danica ballyhoo, she's simply a back marker in the Nascar world, and we have (and have had for some time) women who not only compete, but win.

Understood ... we are on the same page.

You are right, with the right Marketing partners, someone can simply "ride around" all day on a NASCAR track and get paid quite well for less than stellar performances. On the converse, EE had to cut great lights, make all her shifts, and ultimately win her event to make $100k.

On the third hand... If Danica has a brief moment of distraction in her car, she has hours to make up for it. If Erica has a similar issue, she is on the trailer.

PLUS the amount of time in the seat is a small percentage of the actual job for either driver in either sport...

Erica was great on the tree as always. certainly might go all the way this yr.
If Alexis improves her RT's and with Tommy D they will be a powerhouse. { or maybe Tommy keeps running great times and Alexis can sit back on the tree}

Erica did a great job this weekend, and brought home 2 trophies. Can't ask for anything more. FWIW, Danica actually finished 32nd and earned the team $88,575 for her efforts. Her take is different from what the race team makes per weekend, and I don't think Danicas' contract is public knowledge? So, it's a little difficult to figure out what she actually makes per hr.

Well you can be pretty sure Erica doesn't take home those two big $50k checks either.

If Danica were ever to win 1 race, the payout would be over a million dollars, big races are north of 3 million.

Erica would need to win nearly every race and the Championship to bring home that kind of bacon. Not to mention Danica's prize money will dwarf Erica's even if Danica never runs in the top 20. They are just 2 different animals.

EE had great weekend, the likes of which Danica will likely never have. Great job by the whole Elite Motorsports team and especially EE!

Awesome to see the Big Red car from OK take down the double! Congrats to EE and Elite Motorsports on a fantastic race!

when erica shows up on super bowl commercials we can start to compare the two women; until that time
there is no comparison financially; the same goes with the force girls next year with their common 'peak'
sponsor.......hope i'm wrong on this actually and peak puts a force girl in their commercials;
possibly with danica (i.e. capps, waltrip and other drivers in previous napa ads)

With a car that had problems and put her behind the eight ball early on and they never really rebounded. Plus Jennifer Jo Cobb finished Better in the Trucks afterwards.
