Don Carter’s 41 Willys will make its 2010 season debut at the weekends Governors Cup (1 Viewer)

Folsom, Ca – It has been close to a year since Don Carter last had his 41 Willys at a race track. Since November, the car has been stripped down and has had a couple of fresh coats of bright red paint sprayed on it. Weight has been removed and the engine completely rebuilt. This weekend will be the cars first outing this 2010 season and Bob Bunker Jr. will once again be behind the wheel.

Carter and Bunker Jr. had planned to get the car ready for the Street Car Super Nationals event in Las Vegas in November but figured some testing and seat time would be better first. The crew has spent long hours this past week getting everything put together to make the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association’s final event for the 2010 season, the 41st annual Governors Cup event held at their hometown track, Sacramento Raceway.

The plan is to get some more laps on the car and driver this weekend and see where they can go with it. Last season they only made 3 events with the Willys which totaled in less than 20 passes, the quickest/fastest pass being a 6.34/222. This weekend the team’s goal is to get the Willys into the 6.20/230 range and with the removed weight and more data they think it will be achievable.

The event will be run on Friday and Saturday this September 24-25 weekend. On Friday the gates open at 9am. Testing will be available from 12-5pm. The first qualifying session for the Pro Mods will be Friday night around 6pm. The second qualifying session will be Saturday at 12 (noon) and eliminations for the 8-car field will be held around 5:45, 7:45 and the final round at 9:45. All times are approximate and subject to change.
