Don Arivett, builder with his brother Gerald of the first fully wind-tunnell developed dragster that time and politics killed, along with two of Kenny Bernsteins' Buick Reatta "Batmobile" bodies, passed away Tuesday.

An expert in composite fabricaton, Don later switched his focus to Landspeed racing and built two vehicles that pushed the world's electric record to over 245 mph.

Part of a great family of innovators.. And the perfect combination of dreamer and engineer.

Rest In Peace sir

I remember reading about the development of the Arivett Brothers streamliner in the late '80s or early '90s in Hot Rod, SS&DI, etc. Then, coverage of it seemed to completely stop. I always wondered what ever came of it. What exactly happened?

Here's a pretty good historic website dedicated to Arivett Brothers Racing you might find interesting, showing the depth of their quest for speed.

I visited the link to their site. I remember when that streamliner came out, very neat car. Sorry to hear about Don's passing.
