Sunday, 2 September 2007 - (Sydney, NSW) The ACDelco East Coast Nationals - the launchpad for the 2007-2008 ANDRA Championship Drag Racing season has been completed today at Western Sydney International Dragway in front of a large and vocal crowd.
West Aussie Fireman Allan Dobson has continued his fairytale by defeating torrid rival Phil Read in the Skips Fire Service Top Fuel final, where Read lost traction early, handing the win to Dobson.
Sydney's Aaron Hambridge produced the quickest incrementals to half track ever seen in an alcohol dragster in this country and defeated Aaron Lynch's Funny Car in the process.
John Zappia once again dominated Top Doorslammer at his signature event and defeated a quick Victor Bray in a worthy battle of the legends.
Brett Stevens secured a strong win in Top Bike, including a stirring matchup against Leonard Azzopardi in the semis.
It was an all Tremayne affair in Pro Stock, with Aaron defeating his brother Tyrone in the final.
South Aussie Jason Lee steered his Dutch Master sponsored entry to victory over Graeme Weston in Pro Stock Motorcycle.
Speaking to WSID General Manager Tony Beuk, the success and execution of the 2007 East Coast Nationals event fills him with pride and satisfaction.
"I would like to thank the teams, the crews, the owners and investors for their terrific support of this event," remarked Beuk.
"Also big thanks to the hardworking WSID staff - the track walkers and prep team, fire crew, scrutineers - each all of you did a great job this weekend. Also special thanks to the fans for supporting the ACDelco East Coast Nationals in great numbers."
