Seems like there are are lots of you on the board here who have run a variety of FC types through the years so maybe you can educate me. FC bodies have evolved. Current fuel FC bodies look odd with the really streamlined roof lines and huge built in downforce areas in rear. Understandable given the speeds. TAFC bodies look less extreme and smaller. Nostalgia FCs also look somewhat smaller but maybe not. Love watching them run as I’m a product of the 60s racing. So in concise terms, what are the differences and requirements among them? I assume you cannot interchange them between classes (like put a current FC body on a nostalgia car)?

Years ago one racer got carried away with the nostalgia body style and nhra agreed to approve it. (wrong IMOP). so to keep up with the better performance that the NEW body style created, it was follow the leader. the class was started by a few guys using the proper type bodys and it is now a very little regulated class for the body style. but I still like watching the class.

keep thinking that the next change in big show FC bodies might be on back deck. i think it was lee beard who first came
with the two diffuser plates on back deck, essentially ending the 1-piece rear spoiler; and now lately hardly any spoiler seems to be added.
wondering if side spill plates could have a different design as well? i remember a TAFC that tried a single, centered spill plate, with no side spill plates.
was that jay payne?

The big show cars need all the down force they can get, The TA/FC have much less horce power and they don't want a lot of extra down force. They will change the wicker bill (small center plate) size or remove completely based on altitude and or track condition's. most of the TA/FC guy's really have the act together when it comes to track condition's
