O’FALLON, MO (June 8, 2011) – The American Drag Racing League (ADRL) is already home to some of the top track prep and safety equipment in drag racing.

Now, the ADRL will have the leading oversized transport company to deliver that equipment at each race.

The world’s premier eighth-mile drag racing league announced on Wednesday that it has named Diamond Heavy Haul the Official Equipment Mover Of The ADRL.

Based in Shandon, Ohio, Diamond Heavy Haul is considered the industry leader when it comes to the transportation of heavy and unique over-dimensional cargo.

The company will transport each piece of the ADRL’s state-of-the-art track preparation equipment to every national event, starting with the upcoming Kansas National Guard Independence Drags V, which takes place June 17-18 at Heartland Park Topeka.

“We like the way the ADRL is organized and how they run their company, and this is very exciting for us,” Diamond Heavy Haul General Manager Don Madl said.

“We wanted to get involved in drag racing again and we are very proud to have the opportunity to provide this service to the ADRL. We firmly believe that our equipment is second to none.”

Established in 1980 by founder Steve Engel, Diamond Heavy Haul now hauls everything from ADRL track equipment to liquid-fueled rockets for the aerospace industry to turbines, generators and compressors, and other excessively heavy and oversized loads.

The company was recently featured on an episode of “American Truckers,” which airs on SPEED, as it handled, transported and delivered a massive 632,000-pound load.

Its largest hauling trailer includes an incredible 38 axles and 160 tires, and can transport a load as heavy as 750,000 pounds.

Diamond Heavy Haul also has a long association with drag racing. Before his tragic passing in 2008, Engel was a 20-year veteran in Pro Modified racing, competing against many of the top names in the Pro Modified world.

His wife, Tonya, is an accomplished bracket racer and is also the President and CEO of the company.

“Preserving Steve’s name is so important to us. He was such an avid Pro Mod racer and that was his passion,” Madl said. “A lot of people in the drag racing world knew him and it’s important for Steve to be remembered.

“Working with the ADRL, it’s a great way for us to get our name back into drag racing and also to do something in Steve’s memory.”

Working with companies ranging from the automotive to the aerospace industry, Diamond Heavy Haul has long been able to provide a dedicated, specialized service while offering innovative solutions for heavy transportation needs.

With this new partnership, the ADRL is thrilled to be working with such a noted name in the industry.

“By having Diamond Heavy Haul transport our track equipment to each race, we are assured of having the top name in the industry safely hauling it to each race,” ADRL Executive Vice President Jeff Fortune said. “Our racers have grown accustomed to having the best track conditions in drag racing, and this is another step to ensure that will continue.

“We also know how much Steve enjoyed doorslammer racing and this is a remarkable way to help carry on his name.”
