ACTON, Mont. - Some athletes have a favorite stadium they play in, while some race car drivers perform well at certain tracks. NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car rookie Alexis De Joria and the Tequila Patrón/Jack O'Bannon Racing team have had their best performances this year at Division 6 (Northwest) tracks, which gives the team confidence heading into this weekend's Division 6 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Yellowstone Dragstrip in Acton, Mont. De Joria has qualified for both Division 6 events she has attended this year and ran her career best elapsed time, a 5.73, at Pacific Raceways in Seattle.
De Joria, 29, of Venice, Calif., the daughter of Patrón Spirits Company and Paul Mitchell Hair Care Products founder John Paul De Joria, raced at this track last year in Super Comp, and is looking forward to competing there this year in Top Alcohol Funny Car. In her first year competing Super Comp, De Joria won the Pacific SPORTSnationals and runner-upped twice on the divisional level. Her current tenure in Top Alcohol Funny Car is to train her for a future Nitro Funny Car ride.
"I'm real excited about getting back on the track this weekend," said De Joria. "Montana is a beautiful state and Acton is a great track with great people. I made a lot of friends last year when I was there with my Super Comp car, so I'm looking forward to racing there with the Funny Car. I've had my best races with the Funny Car at Division 6 tracks, so hopefully we'll have another good weekend with this Tequila Patrón/Jack O'Bannon Racing Dodge Charger."
Qualifying concludes on Saturday, with final eliminations concluding the event on Sunday.
