DAVID POWERS MOTORSPORTS SIGNS SPECIAL AGREEMENT WITH TOYOTA FOR 2007 NHRA SEASON
PITTSBORO, Ind. (January 23, 2007) – On the cusp of beginning its second full season in NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series competition, the recently expanded two-car Top Fuel operation of David Powers Motorsports(DPM) has reached an agreement with Toyota to supply team support, which includes transportation vehicles for the 2007 season, team owner David Powers announced today.
Toyota will provide support with key product for the team to use throughout the 2007 season. This product support includes two first-generation limited-edition Sequoias and two all-new second-generation Tundra full-size pickup trucks. The all-new Tundras will be equipped with a newly designed 5.7-liter i-Force V8 engines which will provide a towing capacity of more than 10,000pounds. The 2007 season will give tremendous exposure for the highly anticipated Toyota Tundra. With its larger size, higher towing capacity and new V8 engine, it is sure to be a tremendous addition to the David Powers Motorsports teams.

Powers, a former Top Fuel and Funny Car racer in the glory days of drag racing, retired as a driver in the early 1970s to focus on personal business interests. Now, a successful home builder in the Houston area, Powers returned to NHRA competition in 2005 fielding the “Hot” Rod Fuller-driven dragster.
Last season, Fuller powered to two victories and a fifth place Top Fuel finish.
Powers will campaign two Top Fuel dragsters in 2007 as Fuller and 20-time NHRA Funny Car winner Whit Bazemore, behind the wheel of the Matco Tools dragster, aim to compete for the 2007 NHRA Top Fuel championship with veteran tuner Lee Beard leading the race teams.
