Reigning Top Fuel Drag Racing Champion Steve Torrence Among Nominees
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Fan voting for the 2022 ESPY Awards is underway and Kilgore, Texas native Steve Torrence, the four-time reigning NHRA Top Fuel drag racing champion, is among the nominees in the Best Driver category.

Torrence was nominated for his success during a 2021 season during which he won drove his Capco Contractors dragster to victory in 11 of 20 starts. The other Best Driver nominees are 2021 Formula 1 series Champion Max Verstappen of The Netherlands, 2021 Indy Car Champion Alex Palou of Spain and 2021 NASCAR Champion Kyle Larsen of Elk Grove, Calif.
Coverage of the awards ceremony will be televised live from the Microsoft Theater at 7 p.m., Texas Time, on Wednesday, July 20.
