NHRA® Team Report
Toyota Sonoma Nationals NHRA Nationals – Sonoma, CA

Pre-Race Report

A trip back to Brownsburg to pick up the El Guapo body made for a busy week for Cruz Pedregon's team leading up to this weekend's Sonoma Nationals. "That was a trip we didn't plan on having to make, but we're getting everything back together and proving the resilience of this team," Cruz says. "We're coming off some strong runs and a round one win in Denver with our El Veijito (older person) body after blowing the new El Chicano body off during qualifying last Friday. In spite of a tough start to last weekend and a quick trip home to get another body, you'll see the team rocking and rolling when we hit Sonoma Raceway."

Crew Chief Aaron Brooks says, "You'll see this team come out swinging this weekend…just look at how they rallied to get the Snap-on Toyota back on the track after that boomer last Friday. That takes perseverance for a team to recover and get us a first round win Sunday and a close race in the next round, and you'll see that kind of determination from every one of our team members every weekend. Drag racing is one of the most exciting sports on earth, and we're working to keep it safe and fun with the NHRA, a great driver like Cruz and this motivated team."

Cruz is well known among NHRA fans as the sport's most visible and vocal Oakland Raiders fan. Following the Sonoma Nationals, Cruz and Team Manager Caleb Cox will make their annual visit to the team's nearby training camp. Cruz says he's excited to see the Raiders' new coaching staff, in particular Head Coach Jon Gruden. Follow Cruz's social posts Monday to see more about his interaction with the team.

On the side of Cruz's car –

Check Cruz's car this week, and you'll see the name of area Snap-on Nitro Franchisee Jon Cole. Jon worked as an employee of another franchisee until he invested in his own Snap-on business late last year. He's a Marine Corps Veteran, who served during Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and a retired correctional officer. He says he now likes the freedom of owning his own business and being his own boss. This will be his first time to attend an NHRA drag race.
