"Pomona's a home game for us," Cruz says. "I love this track and always have. But it's going to be unusual to race here in late July with the heat since we're usually here during the cooler months. That said, we love the heat. The setup we have performs better in hotter conditions, so we'll be ready and looking forward to the weekend."
Overall, Cruz says he's encouraged by the runs he's starting to make, "These runs are actually better than some of the runs we made with my team last year which would put us in the mid-3.80s (second passes). We're still tweaking the setup, so the potential is there to find more consistency and 'get on a roll' soon."
Pomona has been a winning track for Cruz, in 1995 at the Winternationals and he had two wins in the 2008 and 2012 Finals.
