BEECHER, Ill. (July 5, 2007) Dale Creasy, Jr. doesn't need a GPS to find the Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta. He knows how to get there. In fact, he's been there before. When Creasy and the Torco Nitro Funny Car pull into Edmonton July 6-8 for the CARS RV & Marine & Motorsports Rocky Mountain Nationals presented by Torco Racing Fuels, it will be unfamiliar territory.
Unfamiliar territory because for the first time in Dale's career he will be the defending event champion. "We're up for the challenge," Creasy said. "We did really well in Canada last year."
Doing well in Canada is what helped Creasy win the 2006 World Championship. He claimed all three wins during the '06 campaign north of the U.S. border, including back to back wins in Grand Bend and Edmonton.
While the 2006 Edmonton race ended nicely for the Evan Knoll sponsored team, it wasn't without challenges for Creasy Family Motorsports. After struggling through qualifying Creasy earn a sixth place position for eliminations. Once eliminations began, the Torco team found the right combination to unlock the gate to the winners circle.
"We're looking forward to this as much as anyone," Creasy added. "It's a great event and the beginning of the heart of our season. So, it will mean a lot to get off on the right foot here."
Creasy begins the defense of his Rocky Mountain National title July 6-8 at the Castrol Raceway in Edmonton.
