BELLE ROSE, La. (April 18) – This weekend’s JEGS.com NHRA Cajun Nationals at No Problem Raceway Park will feature sportsman racing at its finest. Among the contingent will be all four of the Coughlin Brothers.
Leading the “yellow and black attack” of Team JEGS entries will be John Coughlin, who will once again be pulling double duty behind the wheel of his Undercover Chassis Top Dragster and his new Super Stock Chevy Cobalt.
“This race is always one of the most enjoyable events of the season for me and my brothers,” said John. “The people down here are extremely friendly and this event always has a very fun atmosphere. It’s more like a big party that also happens to feature a drag race. It’s also great that we get to spend some quality time with many of our JEGS Mail Order customers who race in this part of the country.
“I’m really pumped up about getting the chance to race again,” Coughlin said. “I was fortunate enough to win the first Top Dragster race with my new dragster [at the Division 2 Lucas event in Orlando] and then we had back-to-back rain outs at the next two races so I’m anxious to get back out there again.”
Less than a week after reaching the Pro Stock final of the NHRA national event in Las Vegas, three-time world champion Jeg Coughlin will head to Belle Rose where he plans to drive his JEGS.com dragster in the Top Dragster class. Jeg, who is currently ranked fourth in the NHRA POWERade Pro Stock standings, is also the defending JEGS.com Cajun Nationals Top Dragster champion.
“As many people know, I try to race as often as I can and I’m fortunate that this [JEGS.com Cajun SPORTSnationals] race falls between the national events in Las Vegas and Atlanta,” said Jeg. “I not only get to race my dragster, which I really enjoy, but I also get to race with my brothers, which is also a lot of fun.”
Two years ago, Mike Coughlin claimed the Super Comp title in Belle Rose and he will return this year with his Chevy Cobalt Top Sportsman entry. Mike will be looking for his third SPORTSnationals win in as many years following his Top Sportsman win at last year’s JEGS NHRA Northern SPORTSnationals at National Trail Raceway in Columbus.
John, Jeg and Mike will be joined by their brother, Troy, who will be competing in the Pro Mod class with his new Pontiac GTO. This will be the public on track debut of the JEGS.com twin-turbo Pontiac GTO.
