Couple of interesting tidbits over at DRO. Compton's making a 1/2 Mil now, but with stock bonuses after this deal goes through, he stands to make a few Million. But I firmly believe that he's only really doing this because he feels this will take the sport to "the next level". :D Also, apparently HDP wants to maintain a certain amount of difference in Top speeds between the Top fuelers and their little brothers, based upon averages, and will impliment rules if and when it's necessary to keep the gap where they want it. Wild stuff.

You know after reading all the control stuff of the A/FD class, I begin to wonder when we are going to have people in control of our sport who are interesting in making it better not exircising their control to feel the power. Pretty soon it will be so controlled it will boring.... Can you say COT?

BUT all is not lost. There are enough other venues to play in that will allow the freedom to innovate and really try to go faster.

What can I say... I LOVE THE NHRA

If this becomes true. Mind you talking to some teams, I heard the A/Fuel cars are going to be hit on the nitro % again soon, so it's probably going to be true...

It's about time a racer took over. Like Tim Dogg (Rapper from the Bronx) said on a record.... F..k Compton

Someone with a lot of money needs to start another association.
If they do it right and pay the right purses to compensate the participants and put smart people in the proper roles to run it NHRA would have a hard time surviving!

I need to amend my previous post. As I was sitting here eating lunch the light bulb came on. Remember back when NHRA Pro was sold to HD? We were all wondering why it was for sale to them and not to anybody else?

One look at the compensation for T Compton should answer all your questions. It is obvious that it is about the money, it has been about the money and will always be about the money....HIS. Everything else including the racing community at all levels is a very distant if visable second...

One man's opinion...

Jim- There was no doubt about it!!

The speed differential, is pretty much a moot point-
The average top 50 speeds over a year in T/F would be let's say in the 310-315MPH range- Now with the 40MPH minimum, that would restrict the A/F cars to runs of only 270-275MPH-

I would like to find out what the top 50 speeds were last year- My guess would be it is probably in the 320+ range, which would mean 280MPH would be the cap- Not many 280MPH runs in A/F anyway-

I understand those that believe a cap of any sort is a dumb idea- They need to deal with TAD vs. A/F et's before worrying about any speed cap- Pick one combo, or split them!! < That is not the answer either, but just pick one!!
I also hear the big brother remark- HDP should have NOTHING to do with ADR!! But I'm not dumb enough to drink that kool-aid yet-

Like Jim said and always, this is JMO-

And this is the first time I have seen this-

Association Drag Racing-

AHRA, UDRA and several other 'RA's. Where are they now? NHRA has been and will remain the 800 pound gorilla for as far out as I can see. It's a good thing I prefer Nostalgia racing and sportsman events.

Take away one fuel pump from them, and limit the one pump to the gpm to what they are currently running, ie cant increase a single let's say 90 gpm pump to a 180 gpm pump, if they want to slow them down. I don't really care for limitations, but a some limitations bring innovation in other areas, but the NHRA is against that to, so it's a catch 22 situation.

I'm just glad to hear Tommy Boy's getting a raise. Such a CEO should get one every time anything changes such as rules/ownership/track conditions/weather/etc.
