Community Living St. Catharines hosts motorsport showcase

ST. CATHARINES, ONTARIO (May 30, 2007) – Community Living St. Catharines will host a ”motorsport theme” Wind-up Appreciation Event and barbeque on Thursday, May 31 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. as part of their Community Living Month across the province of Ontario.

Two of the top Pro Modified Racing Association (PMRA) teams and reigning series champions, Joe Boniferro of Niagara Falls, and Kasey Janzen of St. Catharines, will highlight the Motorsport Showcase with their Pro Modified drag racing cars.

The PMRA cars capture the true spirit of hot rodding, and the class is one of drag racing’s most exciting and volatile classes, offering a diverse group of racecars with different types of 2,000-horsepower engines. The cars are fuelled by gasoline or methanol, propelling them down the quarter-mile in low six-second times at over 200 miles per hour. The event will provide fans the opportunity to see, and experience the popular Pro Modifieds, known as "the world's fastest door slammers".

DIRT MotorSports fans will have the opportunity to meet the 16-year old Sportsman Super Series driving sensation Mark D’Ilario and see his DIRT Modified race car.

If you like classic cars, custom hot rods, street machines, and muscle cars, this is the place to be. The ”motorsport theme” Wind-up Appreciation Event will provide a variety of makes and models of various years to highlight the Classic/Custom Showcase.

Sobeys National Maple Leaf Fresh Foods has made it possible for Juicy Jumbo hot dogs to be served at the Community Living St. Catharines event May 31. Refreshments can be purchased, with all proceeds going to Community Living St. Catharines.

For over 53 years, Community Living St. Catharines has served the community by providing a variety of programs and services to over 600 individuals and their families.
