Man, what a series of events today in T/F. You can't help but feel for the whole Kalitta organization , but how about Doug and how he conducted himself. The camera in his face , his look of disappointment , but still able to keep it all in perspective . Hang in there Doug, your day is coming...

Doug and Capps both showed great CLASS today...

Me, I would have looked the TV guys and said, "How the Bloody Hell do you think I flipping Feel"... but that's me...

CUDOS TO the ENTIRE KALITTA CREW

Doug, Connie Rahn and Troupe did their utmost to win, I congratulate ALL of them!
An EXCELLANT YEAR, to Fight so Hard, and Keep it up and fighting Consistantly down to the wire!

Doug, Great Job!!!!

They had a great season. I always feel for the teams that fought all year and come oh, so close.

Congrats to the whole team!

The Kalitta camp was awash in class and so was Capps. They handled it a lot better than I probably could. I hope that they both get their championship somedau for as far as I am concerned they are both champions and have just not got the ring yet.

Major congratulations to Kalitta and the crew. They just barely missed the mark. One round of racing would have made all the difference. I really feel bad for Doug - he deserves a championship, because he is championship caliber material.

Doug and his team are a class act. They had an awesome year, hopefully they will get one next year.

You couldn't help but feel the devastation that ran through Doug as the numbers came up on the screen. Yes . he will probably get a championship someday-maybe next year- but I felt terrible for him and the team. And yes he showed great class and so did Ron.

Did anyone else see Doug when the camera was on him just before his interview with Gary, looked like he mouthed a pretty expletive word, something like motherf#$%ker. Granted had that been me, I wouldn't have even done an interview, I would have been off behind the scenes puking my guts out after watching that run by Tony.
I would have been like "you gotta be f'n kidding me". To come that close and have all the stars line up and he pulls off a record setting run to take the championship, it makes you wonder, what the f does someone have to do to beat that Army team.
To me, that was the single greatest and most intense run I have ever seen.

I felt so bad for Dougie, he deserved that Championship, can you imagine working so hard for something, for a solid year, only to have it taken away from you at the last possible minute.............and taken away in a near impossible manner. Man that has got to hurt bad.

What can you say, the Army team earned it the hard way!

Every once in a while you go away from a contest thinking "It's a shame someone had to lose at all."
That was the case for me yesterday.
Doug got beat by AJ then had his title hopes dissolved by AJ in the final?

man i felt so bad for him

if it was me i prolly woulda like had a break down

Bobby,

Am I reading something into your post or are you saying what I concluded too, that Melanie basically ran AJ's tuneup in her car in the semi's and possibly the entire weekend? That doesn't discredit her psychic .026 light she stapped on Doug though. That's Pro Stock numbers on the tree.

Where do I begin. I am finally thawing out. You know how when your foot falls asleep? My whole body has felt like that for the last 17 hours.
But rest assured, all is well - and we all know this team will be back in February setting the bar. I was lucky enough to be here in Denver and be a part of the true sense of accomplishment when Doug grabbed the points lead.

For ALL the Kalitta people, and the KB Racing crew.... I ASSURE YOU they ain't going nowhere, and I wouldn't trade a single person in the organization for anything in the world.

So the hunger continues.... ya'll better hold onto your hats as 2007 comes around!

Thank you guys & girls for an exciting season. LOVE YA!

There is a saying that I heard recently that I think applies here: Never feel sorry for a man who has his own airplane. The Kalittas have a fleet of their own planes.

With all of that being said, it is a shame someone had to lose yesterday. The way that Championship was won will be talked about for years to come. The way all of that came together, I wouldn't even want to begin to calculate the odds of all of the circumstances lining up just right to allow Schumacher/AJ to get there in the end.

Well done to all parties involved and I hope they can make next year equally as exciting.

No discredit to Mel whatsoever Kurt. I was giving credit where it was due in the tuneup-speculating that the teams talk to one another given the championship implications.
