Chris Rivas went into Memphis with one goal and that was to win his first ever NHRA POWERade race, however things didn’t exactly go according to plan.
Running very well and very consistent during each qualifying session throughout the weekend, Rivas would find himself starting from the fourth position for Sunday’s O’Reilly Mid-South Nationals race.
Having to face Steve Johnson first round, Rivas knew he would have to be good on the tree. Rivas however was a little to good as he would go red and lose the race in the first round.
“I am mad at myself,” said Rivas. “Matt and Evan gave me a great bike this weekend, maybe the best it has been all year. I can’t believe I threw it away. I knew I would have to be good on the tree, but I guess I just missed it. I will just have to go to Dallas and suck it up and try to go some rounds there.”
Rivas now sits 10th in the NHRA POWERade Pro Stock Motorcycle points as they head into the final stretch on the tour.
