Sounds like he had a chute failure, put it through the sand, into the tires and, fortunately, walked away from it.

Commisso was on a good pace, ahead of King at half track, but then his car started to dance out toward the wall and his chutes came out. King made a full pass, and then some, his chutes not coming out. He could not get it stopped and went into the dirt hard, raising a big dust cloud. He bumped his way well into the field, but his car will probably require some major repair work after rearranging the kitty litter. The car went all the way through the sand, to the tire barrier. Estimated time to remove the car and repair the sand trap, 30 minutes. Estimated time to repair the car, a lot longer than that.

Man, that hurts my feelings to see that, was one of my favorite looking cars out there! Doesn't look very fixable. :(

There was a similar accident in Super Rod Sunday, the throttle hung open and the roadster barrel rolled through the sand and over the tires. Driver was airlifted to the hospital, never did get a medical update on his condition. Milan has plenty of shutdown, but a malfunctioning chute or hung throttle eats any shutdown in a big hurry.

Sorry to see that. Go to Vanishing Point Race Cars web site (vprc.com) and look at the pics of the build process. A lot of effort was put into that body glad to hear they have an extra body
