I worked for the Gold Agency as a Tech Inspector and I can tell you it wasn't unusual to have 40 Funny cars and 50 Pro Stocks at US 30 and about half that number at Oswego.
 
Cool thing is that you can still see the painted AHRA-shield in Google Earth/Maps (there's an "on-the-ground-picture" of it in Ashers article).

It used to be a sharper image in Google but zoom in on Google Maps and you can still make it out.

This is definitely one of the strips I'd have on the itinerary for a US road trip based on visiting old ghost tracks all across the country.
