Carpenter more than ready for season opener

(2-28-07) CHARLOTTE, NC – After a longer than expected wait to kick off the 2007 season, Charles Carpenter is ready to go.

Carpenter and team were completely prepared for the scheduled start of the season two weeks ago, slated to be the Flowmaster American Drag Racing League’s 3rd Annual Speedtech Winter Drags in Montgomery, AL. But a cold weather forecast prompted ADRL president Kenny Nowling to wisely reschedule the race before any time or money was wasted in travel or other expenses.

An excellent weather forecast greets the fans and racers traveling to Houston Motorsports Park for the ADRL’s RacingJunk.com Dragpalooza III this weekend, and Carpenter is anxious to hit the track for his first passes of 2007. “The car has been sitting in the shop all winter, and except for a few tweaks it is exactly as it was when it ran a 4.05 to the eighth and a 6.20 at Rockingham last October,” said the 33-year veteran. “So we are hoping to pick up exactly where we left off and go from there,” Carpenter added. “I think the weather conditions will be right, so if the track will hold it we should be able to go even quicker right off the bat.”

“The competition is going to be extremely tough in Pro Nitrous this season,” stated Carpenter. “I think you will see a lot of new faces, and some familiar ones that haven’t run with the ADRL in full capacity before this year. I fully expect 4.0-second bump spots at every event.”After a disappointing 2006 season plagued by parity issues, Carpenter and teammate Pat Doherty are out to prove they and the rest of the nitrous contingent still have what it takes in ’07.

“We have almost everything we need to be competitive this season: the right equipment, personnel, and racing organization,” said Carpenter. “Everything is in place except support from a primary sponsor. We have Custom Autosound back with us in an associate role, and once we find the right primary supporter that is looking to share our passion and commitment, there will be no looking back.”
