Hey gang! Need some help with a homework assignment:

October 15th is Blog Action Day, a day when bloggers take to their blogs to bring awareness to a key issue as relates to their particular blog niche (sign up if you can!). Last year's topic was Environmental Awareness (ex. here's my 07 submission), this year the topic is POVERTY.

So, I'm writing my blog post about how us racers can do our part to help address the issue, but I wanted to include some past examples of how racers have helped charities (particularly those that address poverty).

Can you help me remember what racers have promoted a charity and where I can find the old press releases with info?

you guys are the best!!!

Probably not what you're looking for, but maybe a start.

Infineon Raceway | Raceway Info | Community Involvement

BTW, the John Force Racing Day is for the local food bank. This is from Bob Tasca's blog

We ended up having a little bit better weather toward the middle of the event, which brought out more people. The reason we do this event each year is for the local food bank. Admission to the event is for everyone to bring in non-perishable food, and then we transport it over to the food bank.

Super! Exactly what I'm looking for... any way that the racing world has given back to help in the area of poverty. I searched around on the John Force Racing Day that Tasca talked about, but couldn't find any specific information. They don't archive their news on his site unfortunately. :(

Anyone else know of other examples???

Might try speedway charities (NC area---check Doug Hurlbert)
Or LVMS Charities, I think the name on there is Chris Blair but don't take my word for it.

Bandimere has their own charities but they are mostly involved in the race to read program.

Check out the John Force Holiday Car Show. The event benifits the Chips for Kids program and I believe it is the largest single day toy drive in California.

This year it will be December 7th at his Yorba Linda shop.
