Career best run boosts Zizzo to elimination rounds at Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (September 2, 2007) - After five grueling rounds of qualifying and a career best performance (4.578 e.t. at 322.11 mph), TJ Zizzo found himself in the 14th position at the 53rd annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals contested at the O'Reilly Raceway Park. Zizzo will pilot the Peak Antifreeze / O'Reilly Auto Parts Top Fuel Dragster in first round action against "Chase to the Championship" contender, Bob Vandergriff. Final eliminations begin Monday at 11:30 a.m. with coverage on ESPN2 at noon-3 p.m. (ET) and 7-10 p.m. (ET).

"We ran good when we needed to," Zizzo said as he signed autographs shortly after the final round of qualifying. "We've got a good handle on the car. It will be interesting to see what happens."

The U.S. Nationals are considered to be one of the premier drag races in the world, putting 23 of the world's best Top Fuel teams in head to head competition. The Peak Antifreeze / O'Reilly Auto Parts team was able to outlast many top contenders, including Doug Kalitta and "Chase for the Championship" participants J.R. Todd and Whit Bazemore who failed to qualify.

Brain Bohlander, Brand Manager for SplitFire and Herculiner Brands was in attendance for the event, "We're very happy with TJ and the team's performance. We like TJ's chances tomorrow. Anything can happen, it's Indy."

The 2007 campaign marks Zizzo's third appearance at the U.S. Nationals. Each time he has qualified for the event, including his first NHRA round win in 2004.

Zizzo is also in contention for the IHRA championship, leading the points in a back and forth battle with veteran Bruce Litton (qualified 13th for the U.S. Nationals). "I'm looking forward to driver introductions tomorrow," Zizzo said. After walking across that podium the fun begins. We can't thank Peak, O'Reilly, Herculiner, Race News Magazine, HTP America and Champion Packaging enough for their support."
