CAPPS TO APPEAR AT GOODGUYS WEST COAST NATIONALS SATURDAY FOR NAPA

PLEASANTON, Calif. (Aug. 22, 2008) - Ron Capps, driver of the NAPA AUTO PARTS Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car in the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, will be on hand at the 22nd Goodguys West Coast Nationals this weekend at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton, Calif., making an appearance on Saturday, Aug. 23, to sign autographs throughout the day in the NAPA AUTO PARTS booth.
Currently No. 8 in the NHRA Funny Car standings, having clinched a berth in the Countdown to 1 playoffs, which begin following the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis on Labor Day weekend, Capps is looking forward to returning to his home area this weekend. “It’s going to be fun coming to Goodguys in Pleasanton,” he said. “I grew up in the Bay Area and I love coming to this event. For hot-rodders it’s like their U.S. Nationals or Super Bowl. And I’m a big hot-rod fan. I love driving my Brizio-built Hot Rod coupe whenever I get a chance.”
Capps will join Chip Foose, the world’s top automotive designer and star of the reality television show “Overhaulin'" as a VIP guest of the event. Foose will hand select the “Pro’s Pick” awards which go to the event’s top-10 cars.
Capps is scheduled to sign autographs from 10 a.m.-12 noon, and again from 1-3 p.m.
WHAT:
The Goodguys 22nd West Coast Nationals Car Show is the largest automotive event in the Western United States. The outdoor event features over 3,000 hot rods, custom cars, classics, and trucks through 1957 vintage. The show will fill the entire fairgrounds with classic American cars, vendor exhibits, an automotive swap meet, a cars for sale corral, special themed parking areas and much more! Live music, food and drink will also be in abundance throughout the weekend.
