TULSA, qualifying: Vegas Fuel Funny Car driver Jon Capps will return to Tulsa Raceway Park June 23rd as the No.1 qualifier for the running of the postponed Skull Shine Sooner Nationals, the third race on the Knoll-Gas Nitro Jam schedule. Capps is currently third in the Knoll Gas-Torco Racing Fuels Pro Nitro Funny Car class point chase.
Capps qualified the Vegas Fuel Funny Car in the top spot for the second time in just his third IHRA race. Capps broke the 300-mph barrier twice during qualifying in the Paul Smith-tuned Monte Carlo , running a career-best speed of 304.05 mph. Capps also recorded low elapsed time of the meet at the most recent event in Rockingham, where he was a runner-up to Jack Wyatt, reaching his first career-final in just his second IHRA race.
"The Vegas Fuel team has provided me with everything I need to reach the winner's circle," Capps said. "I'm over the jitters and apprehension of driving one of these cars, I just want to learn as much as I can, as quickly as I can on every run, and try to put this Vegas Fuel Funny Car in the winner's circle at the end of the day."
